On January 1, 2009, Mandatory Reporting of Child Sexual Abuse became law in WA through changes to the Children and Communities Services Act 2004. This mandated Medical Practitioners, Nurses, Midwives and School Teachers and Police Officers to notify the Department for Child Protection when they formed a belief that anyone under the age of 16, has or may have been sexually abused.
