Former Director-General of Health and CEO of SJOG Subiaco Dr Neale Fong has teamed up with Mr Neil Shackleton, who was CEO of RFDS WA, to form a consultancy Australis Health Advisory with clients in Australia and South East Asia. Dr Fong is also project director for Curtin University’s proposed medical school.

 

Dr Simon Towler has resigned as the WA Chief Medical Officer. Health Director General, Kim Snowball stated that they will be advertising for a full-time replacement and that “Dr Towler will not be leaving until the end of April… to provide a smooth handover.” Dr Towler will return to his clinical role as an Intensivist at RPH and will assist the department in areas of national clinical reform.

 

There’s movement at the station, in this case the SJOG Health Care Board. It’s a double appointment with Kerry Sanderson AO and Sister Linda Ferrington invited to sit at the Big Table. The former has a strong private and public sector CV in WA, the latter equally impressive health and social justice credentials in NSW.

 

ASID ASM Advanced Trainees Research Award 2012 has been won by Dr Katherine Norton, a registrar at Royal Perth Hospitaas an intern.
