Dr Ryan Wallman has followed his dream and taken up a full time position as a health writer with Wellmark Communications in Melbourne. Prior to the interstate move, Ryan worked with Subiaco Community Mental Health as a psychiatric medical officer and was a freelance member of the Medical Forum team. We wish him every success in his new role!

Ms Peta Wootton has started as Manager, Community Mental Health as part of the Social Outreach and Advocacy program at St John of God Hospital, Murdoch. Senior St John Ambulance volunteer Mr Jeffrey Williams has been appointed as SJOG Subiaco's Director of Quality and Risk.

Susan Stark, General Manager of Western Cardiology, has replaced Narelle Supanz as State President of the Australian Association of Practice Managers (AAPM). Narelle is now the AAPM's WA representative on the national board.

Mr Tony Hume has been appointed to the newly-created position of manager of organisational advancement with the WA Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR). He will be responsible for managing WAIMR's fundraising activities.

Ms Christine Costa has retired as Director of Injury Control Council of Western Australia, with Ms Deborah Costello taking over her role.

Mr Chris McGowan has been appointed as aged care provider Silver Chain's new CEO, replacing the long-serving Ross Bradshaw. Prior to his appointment, Mr McGowan was with the Southern Adelaide Health Service.

Perth biotech pSivida has appointed Ms Katherine Woodthorpe as non-executive director.

Dr Sue van Leeuwen has been named as CEO of the WA-based National Research Centre for Asbestos-Related Diseases.

Prof Moyez Jiwa has won the RACGP WA GP Research Award 2007 for the research work done by his team at the WA Centre for Cancer and Palliative Care.

Leederville-based transdermal drug delivery company OBJ Transdermal Vaccines has appointed Gardasil developer Dr Ian Frazer to its scientific advisory board. Dr Ken Donald, formerly the head of the University of Queensland medical school has been named chairman and Dr Gil Shearer as CEO and director.
